We hope you all had a wonderful summer break! All of us at Battle Creek Public Schools are so excited to welcome back our Bearcat families for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 21 which will be a half day.
As we gear up to kick off an extraordinary 2024-2025 school year, we want to make sure your student is ready to start the year on the right foot. This year, we are introducing new school-wide behavior expectations across the district for our students, staff, and families to create a positive and safe learning environment so that all students can achieve their best. We want our Bearcats to be Resilient, to be Optimistic, to know how to Advocate for themselves and for others, and to be Reliable citizens.

HOW TO ENROLL & SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS
Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is open! Start the enrollment process for new students online at battlecreekpublicschools.org/enroll.
If you’re unsure of which school your student is assigned to, look up your school of residence in the BCPS street guide.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILIES BELOW:
Northwestern Middle School has paused school operations for the 2024-25 school year as the building undergoes final renovations to transform into the Northwestern Academy of Visual & Performing Arts, serving grades K-8 starting next year. Click here for more information about Northwestern’s transformation.
BCPS middle schoolers will attend school as follows for the upcoming 2024-25 school year:
Rising 7th- and 8th-grade students from Northwestern will attend Springfield Middle School
Rising 6th-grade students from Valley View and Fremont will attend Springfield
Rising 6th-grade students from Verona and Ann J. Kellogg will attend the new, temporary Sixth Grade Academy located in its own wing at Ann J. Kellogg Elementary
Students currently enrolled in or accepted to attend BC STEM will continue to attend BC STEM
